The Resell Game

I continue to wear my shoes with holes in them. I can’t remember the last time I paid over $100 for a pair of shoes. However, in today’s day in age, there are hundreds (if not thousands) of people paying top dollar for pairs of shoes. I’m a fan of taking advantage of opportunities when they become available and there’s no better place than flipping sneakers at the moment. In order to invest at a faster rate, I need to continually find ways to increase my income and cash flow.

This blog is a good guide on how to become a sneaker reseller and make money flipping sneakers. You can buy certain sneakers are retail price and sell them on a secondary market for sometimes 2-3x retail price.

Here are several other money management tips that you should learn to increase your income.

Tips to Become a Sneaker Reseller

There are several ways to make a living as a sneaker reseller, but only a few tips have a high chance of success. See what works for you and improve over time. Here are tips on how to become a sneaker reseller:

  • Conduct extensive research

If you want to build your brand as a sneaker reseller, you need to have a solid knowledge base to know the kind of shoes to buy and resell. As much as new models emerge every other day, old classics still hold an important part in history. The older models present highly lucrative options for pre-owned or even unworn older models that are unique and that collectors covet. Researching on how to start the venture can help you to make the right choices and identify opportunities that can help you avoid flops.

If you do research, you will be able to know the kind of opportunities to seize to make a lucrative deal. Do a thorough analysis and try the business with one pair of shoes and sell on one platform. It doesn’t matter if it is a new release or a used one although you need to be careful so as not to get the fakes. Start with something and continue to make it a habit and you’ll organically grow.

  • Choose the right sneakers for reselling

If you want to benefit from the flipping sneakers business truly, you need to purchase shoes that are sold cheaply but have a lasting value in the long run. One way to do so is to buy the sneakers on release day at retail prices, which is where they are at their most affordable.

Then, instead of lining up in the store for hours to buy them, you can quickly place your orders on Frenzy, a Shopify-owned app. The app will notify you of the release dates of the latest sneakers from the biggest brands. Then, you can place your orders in bulk. To make money flipping the new sneakers, you need to find pairs sold under reseller price so you can profit off them.

Also, I suggest you specialize in a particular brand like Air Jordan or Yeezy. This helps you stay familiar with new releases, vintages and more.

  • Choose the right platform to sell your sneakers

There are numerous places to resell your sneakers. Sneakers reselling can be compared to the stock market. Some pairs of shoes don’t start out too hot, but they eventually accumulate value later on. Conversely, other sneakers can generate lots of buzzes only to fizzle out as time pass by.

It’s crucial to have seller accounts on all or different platforms, so you can profit from selling across every single platform and knowing the best one to sell on. However, you need to weigh a number of factors such as the fees,  How long will it can take to sell the sneakers or to get paid, How you will get paid,  the amount of effort that  you need to put in on your end,  can anyone save you if you get scammed among others factors.

If you amass a collection, you can always start a blog that includes your sneakers for sale directly. There is no better time to start a blog than now. It is easier and more straightforward than ever before.

However, flipping sneakers is all about collecting your margin quickly. For me, I don’t want to hold onto a lot of shoes at one time. You never know when the market can turn on you. You have to make hay when the sun is shining.

Corona Virus Is Here. What Is Its Impact On The Sneaker Resell Market.

Around the world, sneaker stores of differing scale have begun to close shop. Boutique chain Sneakersnstuff announced over the weekend that its locations in Los Angeles, Paris, and New York would be temporarily closing. Ronnie Fieg’s Kith retail empire is closed for business, with no targeted reopening date in sight. The online shops of all these suppliers are still very much open for business. And so is the resell market.

While fears around the spread of COVID-19 have sent global stocks crashing, those who trade in limited-edition footwear have so far been mostly unaffected. StockX, the popular resell platform that treats sneakers as any other investment, closed the doors of its physical location in New York City but say there aren’t any significant change in volume or prices on individual pairs.

Stadium Goods, a New York City consignment store for high-end footwear that has more of a physical presence, is prepping for a drop in its in-person business after closing its SoHo store on Monday. Co-CEO Jed Stiller says that it hasn’t yet seen a change in online sales connected to coronavirus concerns.

Many independent resellers have found themselves possibly with an abundance of inventory sitting with them in their houses. The good thing about all this is that while people are sitting at home, they are browsing sites online shopping! This is the perfect time for sneaker resellers to capitalize on this opportunity and create profits for themselves. I personally have seen a better month than any other during this epidemic and I owe it all to people being bored in their houses and finding pleasure in online shopping. The hardest thing to deal with during all this is having to still meet people and buy shoes from unknown people who could have the virus and you would never know. There are definitely risks when it comes to keeping your online based business open during these times but if you choose to, you could find yourself with pretty great returns.

What Sneakers Celebrities wore this week

Paris Fashion Week brought out a ton of first looks at upcoming shoes as well as some great fits. Back in the US, Kylie showed Travis’ influence with some SBs while Wale wore Dunks like he had before SB was even a thing. Have a look below at the variety of sneakers worn by the seven best this week.

Wale debuted the off-white dunk which is a very hot commodity right now.

Robert Patterson wore the Dior x Jordan 1 which many people would die too have on their feet.

Westside Gunn showed off a piece from his coveted sneaker collection with the puma Clyde.

Virgil Abloh showed off a unreleased pair of his off white MCA’s.

Hot Sneaker Drops in 2020

from collaborations like Travis Scott’s Dunks, the return of Tom Sachs’ coveted Mars Yard sneakers, and the long awaited debut of the Yeezy basketball sneaker, there’s plenty to be excited about in 2020.

Scroll through for a rundown of what to keep an eye on this year.

Aside from a set of recently leaked photos, little is known about Scott’s upcoming Air Max 270 React collaboration. The sneakers themselves flip the shoe’s upper with a retro-like wave pattern and a gold, soiled midsole which combine for a pre-distressed look. The combination of materials and details are also worth mentioning, which include suede, mesh, and a new toggle lace system.

Arguably the most hyped pair on this list, the pair is Dior designer Kim Jones’ latest grand achievement. It was produced in Italy and features Dior’s signature oblique pattern on the Swoosh, among other details included a hidden Dior-stamped footbed. Only 1,000 pairs are expected to drop at select Dior stores this spring for a retail price of $2,000.

Originally introduced in 2012 in the form of the ultra-limited Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 1.0 which used NASA-approved Vectran material, the silhouette was reissued with a more practical mesh base in 2017. Still not exactly easy to come by, the shoes were released through Space Camp demonstrations and have become one of the more coveted collaborations in recent memory. Surprisingly, recent leaks show what are supposed to be new pairs set to drop sometime during the spring season.

Kanye West’s Yeezy Quantum basketball shoes have been in the works for quite some time. They even managed to drum up controversy in late 2018 when reports surfaced that the NBA had banned the sneakers from on-court action. More than a year later, the Yeezy Quantum is finally rumored to drop during NBA All-Star Weekend.

These are just a couple of the most coveted drops coming in 2020 and there will be surely more to come within the months.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
